about

“Hot Streets of Hell” is a track from Fox Fagan, releasing on May 6th. Showing a twangy, delectably melodic fusing of Americana and rock with chamber-pop, “Hot Streets of Hell” also features Ditch Kurtz on Pedal Steel.

The track’s intro of suave vocals and acoustic strumming is joined quickly by a resonating pedal steel accompaniment, driving thereafter into the hooky backing vocal touch and a devastating piano-laden interlude.

“Written in a time of endless parties and desperation, I found the ability to be okay with myself through this song,” Fox says of the track. “I was a mess, but somehow was still enjoying life to the fullest in Hollywood and meeting some crazy characters along the way. I sat with this song for years and never knew when it would see the light of day. Finally I asked my pedal steel playing friend Ditch Kurtz, who I met while I was touring as bassist in this Chris Shiflett Band in Nashville to play on it. And it all made sense that I had to go full on Americana with it. This has to be shared with the world this summer, so others can enjoy being okay with their bad selves.”

lyrics

There’s a sparkle in my eye
I’m trapped in a spell
Draggin me back out there on those Hot Streets Of Hell
It’s alright, its alright if I never see Hollywood again

But now I’ve got the chance to do it I’ll be doing it well
I’m so happy that I’m cos I coulda been somebody else

Who you really are you leave out on the street
I spent three days wth a stranger now he’s living with me
It’s alright and I’m fine if I never do cocaine again
But if I get the chance to take a one way ticket to hell
I’ll be happy that I’m me cos I coulda been somebody else

Woo oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh

Girl’s I gotta let you know
I’m no material man,
I’m a lover not a fighter I’m a Peter Pan
And it’s copacetic if I never drive a Mercedes Benz
But if I ever get to do it and I’ doing well
You’ll be glad that youre with me when you coulda been with somebody else.

OH ITS A GRATEFUL SONG
AND IT SHOULD BE SUNG
BY A LADIES MAN’S SON

People always asking me about my name
Like it’s a criminal offence to wanna change lanes
Well I’m totally chill if you gotta have a problem with that
If you ever get the chance to not be sick of yourself
You should be happy that you’re you when you coulda been someday else.
